Can Claude edit your reels?
Yes, with the right setup. On its own, Claude can't open a video file and hand you back an edited reel. Give Claude video editing skills on your computer, though, and it can. You drop in a raw phone clip, say "edit this reel," and it cuts the dead air, adds captions, a hook, zooms, sound and a cover. Then it hands you a finished video or an editable CapCut draft. That setup is called the Reels Editing Engine, and it's what I built for my own reels.

Claude is the brain. Skills are the hands.
Claude is great at understanding what you mean. Editing a reel takes more than understanding, though. Something has to find your best take, cut the silence, time the captions to your words and build the layers.
That's what skills are. A skill is a set of instructions and tools Claude follows to do one job really well, every time. The Reels Editing Engine is a set of editing skills that runs inside Claude on your computer. Claude listens to you. The skills do the cutting.

It edits talking-head reels, b-roll, voiceovers and animated text reels. Talking-head reels are where it's strongest, because that's what I built it on.

Mac on macOS 13 (Ventura) or newer, or Windows 10 or 11. It won't run on Windows laptops with a Snapdragon chip. Intel Macs work, just slower and with a few extras off.

Can Claude edit videos on its own?
No. In a regular chat, Claude can't open a video file and hand you back an edited one. With editing skills installed on your computer, it can cut, caption and finish a reel for you.

Can Claude edit my reels in CapCut?
Yes. It can hand you an editable CapCut draft with every clip, caption and sound on its own layer, so you can tweak anything. Or skip CapCut and take the finished video.

Does it work on Windows?
