Who you're dealing with.

The Startup Mom is run by Homewell LLC, an Alabama limited liability company. When this page says "I" or "my," that is Meg Kilgore. When it says "you," that is you.

What I collect.

When you download a freebie, join a waitlist, take a quiz, sign up for emails, buy something, or join the community, you give me some combination of:

• your name and email address
• your answers to quiz or form questions
• your Instagram username, if you came through a DM keyword
• your community profile, posts, and comments, if you join
• billing details for a purchase

Like most websites, mine records basic technical information when you visit: your IP address, browser and device type, which pages you looked at, and where you came from. My site runs on Kajabi, which uses cookies to keep you logged in and to remember your cart.

I also use Google Analytics to count visitors and to see which links people tap. It sets its own cookies and tells me things like which page you landed on, roughly what part of the world you are in, and whether you arrived from Instagram. It does not tell me who you are, and I never connect it to your name or your email.

Your full card number. Payments run through Kajabi Payments and Stripe, and your card details go straight to them. I only see the last four digits and whether it worked.

What I do with it.

• Send you the thing you signed up for
• Deliver what you bought and give you access to it
• Email you about my products, free resources, and what I am working on
• Answer you when you write to me
• Run the community
• Understand what is working, in aggregate, so I make better things

That is the whole list. I do not sell your personal information, and I do not rent or trade your email address. I have never done it and I am not going to.

Who else touches it.

I use a handful of companies to actually run this business. They only get what they need to do their job, and they are not allowed to use your information for their own purposes.

• Kajabi hosts the site, the courses, the community, and my email list
• Kajabi Payments and Stripe process payments
• Google Analytics measures site traffic, under Google's own privacy policy
• ManyChat and Zapier handle Instagram DM keyword replies and pass your email to my list
• Instagram and Meta, if you interact with me there, under their own privacy policies

I may also share information if the law requires it, or if I ever sell or transfer the business, in which case your information would go with it under this same policy.

Email, and how to stop it.

If you give me your email, you will hear from me. Every email I send has an unsubscribe link at the bottom, it works immediately, and using it costs you nothing else. You can also reply to any email and ask me to take you off, and I will.

Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop the emails you actually need, like a receipt or a login for something you bought.

About those cookies.

The site uses cookies for the boring necessary things: keeping you logged in, holding your cart, remembering your preferences. Google Analytics sets a few of its own so it can tell a returning visitor from a brand new one.

Your browser can block or delete all of them in its settings. If you only want to switch off the analytics ones, Google has a browser opt-out that does exactly that. Some parts of the site will stop working properly if you block everything.

Your choices.

You can ask me to show you what I have about you, correct it, or delete it. Email [email protected] and I will take care of it. If you are in a state with its own privacy law, like California, you have these rights specifically, and I will not treat you differently for using them.

One note on deletion: if you have bought something, I have to keep the transaction record for tax and accounting reasons even after I delete the rest.

About kids.

This site is for adults. It is not directed at children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect anything from them. If you think your child gave me information, email me and I will delete it.

Keeping it safe.

Kajabi and Stripe handle storage and payments with industry-standard protection. I keep my accounts locked down. No system anywhere is perfect, and I am not going to promise you one is.

When this changes.

If I change this policy, the date at the top changes with it. If it is a significant change, I will say so by email.
